Locus publishing was established in 2009 by Thale Fastvold and Tanja Thorjussen when publishing Kurator? an anthology of 20 texts which investigate the role of the curator in the contemporary art field in Norway, launched at UKS (Young Artists Society) with a seminar.
In 2015 we published the book ARTic in collaboration with artist Marianne Darlèn Solhaugstrand, launched at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo, followed by Arctic Hysteria in 2016 which was launched at NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1.

By researching the spiritual in art we see a direct link between the current ecological crisis and a renewed spiritual connection to nature.
In order to expand the artistic research we invited various artists to create small editions of artist books about the CoSA theme.
The CoSA project involves artist books, a public art project “LOCUS bee sanctuary garden” as well as exhibitions and performance events. At Cassata Drone LOCUS meditate on how the CoSA project relates to the main theme of Manifesta 12: The Planetary Garden. Cultivating Coexistence * and presents artist books by the following artists:

Som ideutvikler og kurator arrangerte Marianne Darlén Solhaugstrand fra 2010-2012 kunstfestivalen Artic Challenge-Site Specific.
Ønsket var å sette den inkluderende anmodningen fra statlig hold om stedsutvikling, og om å nå ut til nye publikumsgrupper, på spissen. Dette ved å plassere samtidskunst og idrett som likestilte kulturuttrykk i en og samme festival som en utforskning. Ideen var at generelle sammenhenger kan tydeliggjøres under ekstreme tilstander.
Solhaugstrand samarbeidet her med en av Nordnorges største idrettsfestivaler, TDA -Triple Challenge, som var et forprosjekt for det internasjonale sykkelløpet Arctic Race of Norway. Ønsket er at boken kan anspore til en bredere og mer generell debatt om kunstens kår i det utvidede kulturfeltet/kulturnæringens tidsalder.
